Photo shoots for food.

When you have a small to medium size business or a start up it is hard to get going without spending a fortune on food photography. Beautiful shots taken by a professional food photographer can take hours to get right and cost a fortune, however some of these tips might help:

Always use a specialist food photographer. It is a specialist subject and there are tricks and techniques to making food look delicious.

Ask about a day rate for a job lot of shots.  A large chunk of time is used up in the setting up so you should get more shots for less money this way.

Look for a photographer who can do the styling too.

The way to get the best from a food photographer is to start with a selection of examples of what you are looking for.  Give then a brief and if you can source a few of the type of props you are looking to use to give a style guide.

Make sure you have a good clear idea of what you want and to make things easier offer to stay and help in the background.  It can be fun, and the photographer if they don't have an assistant can get more out of the day if you can help out.

Another way of saving money is to have the photo's in their raw state.  If you resize and crop them your self at your leisure then you are saving allot of time and cost by doing so.
